Huawei just announced yesterday the Kirin 970 processor which it touts as the world's first mobile AI processor. It has a neural processing unit that will be used in the Huawei Mate 10 smartphone. This means that the artificial intelligence calculations can be performed on the chip itself in your mobile phone unlike Apple iPhone's Siri or Google Android Assistant which resides on the cloud (so must be online for them to work).
What do you guys think? Will this make your mobile phones smarter?
So far, Huawei has only shown its capability to identify objects in the real world with neural network processing. How does this new architecture work?
